Happy Birthday Alyssa!

Alyssa turned 15 on Friday. It has been our family tradition to open gifts immediately after waking up, but I guess Alyssa is too old for that now. She insisted on taking a shower and being dressed before unwrapping her treasures, probably because she didn't want to end up here in her jammies. What's in the big box, you ask? A laptop bag. She also got an ipod dock, seasons 5 and 6 of Gilmore Girls, and a receipt for a flexi-stretcher (a dancer's torture device) that is backordered.

It is also a family tradition to allow the birthday kid to choose the restaurant for their birthday meal. I also always offer to cook whatever they want, but no one ever takes that deal. I'll try not to be offended. Alyssa chose Elephant Bar. As has been mentioned in previous posts, it is not an actual bar. Several people have been to visit us and gone there with us, so I now have witnesses that I am in fact telling the truth.

Yes, Alyssa really did wear her cardboard birthday crown the entire time we were at the restaurant. Mostly to embarrass Zac, which doesn't take much these days. It did get her a free dessert which was worth any humiliation she might have experienced.

Happiest of Bdays Alyssa. I can't believe she's 15! The fam looks great. When we come visit you (I figure we could venture out in 5 years or so) we want to go to the no bar Elephant bar!

You can't have a 15 yr old & a 8 yr old can you? We thought our gkids spread of 2yrs to 13yrs old was enough to keep things interesting when we visit them in Houston. Family looks great but Kevin's putting on a few.
